Read President Buhari's Easter Message

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, assured of his administration’s commitment to ensure peace and security across the country.
Buhari, who stated this in an Easter message to Christians, which he personally signed, said his government would ensure the end of politically motivated killings in the country.
The statement read:

“Fellow Nigerians,
I rejoice with you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, as we celebrate Easter.
For Christians all over the world, this celebration is in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice which Jesus Christ made for the salvation of mankind.
The Gospels also tell us that during his earthly ministry, Jesus Christ repeatedly urged his disciples and followers to “love one another as I have loved you”.

As we celebrate Easter this year, I sincerely believe that it will serve our dear nation very well if we all imbibe this essential message of Jesus Christ and truly learn to love our countrymen and women as we love ourselves.

Indeed, we will surely make faster progress towards the achievement of the peaceful, united, strong, progressive and prosperous country we all desire if, as a nation, we eschew all divisive, parochial, ethnic and religious sentiments and rivalries, and begin to live more harmoniously with our compatriots, as Jesus Christ and the founders of the world’s other great religions enjoined mankind.

Our unfortunate notoriety in recent years as a country where the blood of men, women and children are wantonly and callously shed in frequent SinParties of criminal, political, ethnic and religious violence has become very embarrassing and utterly unacceptable.
My administration is determined to achieve greater peace and security across our nation by ending the avoidable conflicts and crises that hinder our national progress.
I ask for greater support from all Nigerians in this regard. We must put a stop to politically motivated killings. Our communities must be made safe again for all inhabitants to live together in peace and harmony.

Our armed forces, police and other security agencies are being progressively reformed, repositioned and empowered to win the war against terrorism and make mass killings, abductions and other criminal atrocities things of the past in our beloved country.
Let us all also play our parts as patriotic citizens and do all that we can to ensure that we make Nigeria a safer, more peaceful and happier place for its people and others.
Faith, belief and the fulfilment of expectations are also key themes of the Easter celebration. I urge you all therefore, to continue to have faith in the future greatness of our country and to believe that the CHANGE my administration promised will surely come to fruition.

That CHANGE, which we all yearn for, will certainly occur more rapidly if we all place the love of our country above selfish personal and group interests.
The National Assembly has just passed the 2016 budget. I assure all Nigerians that we will do our utmost best to ensure that the budget, the first since my election as President, is efficiently and successfully implemented towards achieving our objective of faster economic growth and development.
I thank the vast majority of Nigerians for their patience and understanding in the first ten months of this administration.
As we go forward, I assure you all that we are working very hard to overcome the challenges we encountered on assumption of office.
We are moving on with an unshaken resolve and determination to deliver on the mandate you gave us on March 28, last year.
I wish you all very happy Easter celebrations."

The Gongo Aso crooner, called out on Linda Ikeji in his new single At The Moment (ATM). However, the song sounded as if he was praising her but it ended up as an insult.

According to the lyrics of the song it says:

At the moment I want more prosperity. I dey feel like Linda Ikeji, many money wey dey come from Dasuki.

This would not be the first time 9ice would be throwing shades at Linda Ikeji. In 2013, 9ice called out on the blogger who was putting up his material for free where Linda also mentioned on her blog that, the singer would have to pay her before any of his songs would be uploaded on her media platform.

This got 9ice very angry and he replied saying:

I will kill and fight anybody that puts my song on the internet for free. Where was Linda Ikeji when I was out with my first album, Linda Ikeji who are you? I don’t even know her? Linda Ikeji if you are expecting a dime from me, fa fa fa foul. You pay me before you upload my music.

Recall that few months back, Linda Ikeji was involved in the Dasukigate scandal where she was accused of being paid N240m from Sambo Dasuki. This got Linda by shock and she immediately denied receiving money from him.

FG Sends Parents Of Kidnapped Chibok Girls To Cameroon

The Nigerian government is wasting no time in sending parents from the Chibok community of northeast Nigeria to neighbouring Cameroon to verify whether a suspected female suicide bomber is one of the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram nearly two years ago.

And the need for urgency is further underscored by the fact that the would be bomber speaks English, Kanuri and Hausa and told interrogators she was attending school in Chibok before she was captured, according to local newspaper, L’oeil du Sahel.

Garba Shehu, spokesperson for Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, said the Nigerian High Commissioner in Cameroon, Hadiza Mustapha, has been in contact with Cameroonian authorities who have shown a willingness to assist the Nigerian government.

The abduction of about 270 school girls by Islamic militants from a school in Chibok on April 14, 2014, sparked international outrage and a campaign #bringbackourgirls. While about 50 of the girls managed to escape, 219 of these girls remain missing.

Military and local government sources on Friday reported that one of two girls arrested in northern Cameroon carrying explosives claimed to be one of the missing Chibok schoolgirls.

The girls were arrested after being stopped by local self-defence forces in Limani near the border with Nigeria that has been the target of frequent suicide bombings in recent months.

“We hope that the Chibok parents will be able to identify the girl and determine whether she is indeed one of their missing students,” Shehu told the Thomson Reuters Foundation in a telephone interview in Abuja on Saturday.

Shehu said the government was keen to ascertain the girl’s identity so she can be brought back to Nigeria and possibly assist the government in investigations regarding the fate and whereabouts of the other missing Chibok girls.

He said the two parents from Chibok selected to embark on the trip to Cameroon are Yakubu Nkeki, chairman of the Chibok Abducted Girls Movement, and Yana Galang, the group’s women leader, whose 16-year-old daughter Rifkatu is among the missing.

The trip is being arranged by the government in partnership with the Murtala Muhammed Foundation in Nigeria, a non-government organisation which has been supporting the parents association and has offered to partly sponsor the trip to avoid any delays.

“If it is true, we are very happy about it. If we see her with our eyes, we will know where our girls are,” Galang told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Shehu said the two girls will be brought by the Cameroonian government to Douala, the country’s largest city, on Monday for further checks into their identities.

Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan was criticized for his slow reaction to the Chibok abductions, seen by many as indicative of his response to Boko Haram, which at its strongest held large swathes of northeastern Nigeria.

Muhammadu Buhari, who defeated Jonathan in a 2015 election, ordered a new investigation into the kidnappings in January.

Seun said Toyin has destroyed his good name after all the love he showed to her.

According to Egbegbe,

“Toyin Aimakhu’s career is finished as far as Yoruba movie sector is concerned, unless she corrects the erroneous impression she has given the public about my person. How can a person l call my girl friend accuse me of kidnapping her? What does she want to gain from that? And she said her Personal Assistant typed the message. If that’s true, where was she? And when she noticed it, why didn’t she withdraw it immediately before the whole thing went viral? So, I believe she has something hidden.”

Panic inside a plane! Woman taking first ever flight opens emergency door thinking it’s a toilet!

Chinese travelers have been causing quite a commotion in the aviation world recently

A 50-year-old woman fed up with the long line at the toilet inside a plane went looking for another toilet and ended up opening the cabin door, the emergency slide deployed! This created commotion inside the plane. Luckily, it happened as the plane was about to take off. Her action delayed the flight for several hours!

According to Ming Pao, the incident happened on China Southern Airlines flight CZ3456 from Chongqing to Shenzhen.

Just as the aircraft had finished boarding and was making preparations for take-off, passengers heard a loud hissing sound and noticed that the evacuation slide had been deployed, causing a commotion aboard the plane.

The crew quickly realized that one of the passengers, a woman who was taking her first ever flight, had attempted to open the emergency exit and caused the slide to inflate. Everyone was then taken off the plane and made to wait for over two hours while the airline worked to fix the problem.

Following the incident, the woman's boarding pass and passport were confiscated by cabin crew. Later, instead of taking off, she was taken away by police for investigation.

According to Shanghaiist, China has been hit by a wave of passengers opening emergency exits for rather trivial reasons over the past few years. Last month one passenger did it because he wanted some fresh air, and another in 2014 did it because he was in a hurry to disembark

The Super Eagles received a morale booster of $5,000 from the President of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah ahead of the reverse leg of the 2017 Africa Nations Cup against Egypt in Alexandria on Tuesday. The Chairman/CEO of Capital Oil and Gas had promised $5,000 to the national team if they beat the Pharaohs in the first leg on Friday in Kaduna, but the Eagles were forced to a 1-1 draw by the North Africans.
However, Dr. Ubah, who is also the Publisher of The Authority newspapers, lifted the spirit of the players when he presented a cheque for the amount to the team at their Africa Continental Hotel camp, despite not winning the match.

The team officials also benefited of the package as they received $3,000.He urged them to put the result of the first leg behind and positively work towards a win in Alexandria on Tuesday. “I am giving this to the Super Eagles to motivate them to win the match in Alexandria on Tuesday. I made the pledge to give the team $5,000 as our support to inspire them to pick the maximum points against Egypt in Kaduna on Friday. Although the game ended in a 1-1 draw, it is my conviction that the team deserve to be motivated ahead of the game on Tuesday in Egypt.

Dr Ubah, who during the visit to the Super Eagles with the management of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, advised the players to take the positives from the match in Kaduna and go all out for a win in Alexandria, saying, “Nigeria has the players and the capability to achieve victory in Egypt.” I am an advocate of motivation for result. That is the reason I and the FC Ifeanyi Ubah management have come to lift the spirit of the team. We believe in the Super Eagles and will continue to support the team,” he said.

Nigerian Pastor Bar Robbers, Prostitutes, Kidnappers From Giving Offerings And Tithe

The General Overseer of The Lord”s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, has again, barred armed robbers, prostitutes, cultists, women on trousers and kidnappers from giving offerings, pledges and paying tithes in the church.
This is even as the revival preacher urged Nigerians to turn to God in repentance for divine intervention that would lead to the revival of economic and political fortunes of the country.

Preaching to hundreds of thousands of worshippers that converged on the headquarters of the church at Ijesha, Lagos for the last lap of the two-day crusade, Muoka harped that God is not interested in ill-gotten wealth and riches but want everybody to worship him in truth and in spirit.

Hear him: “If you are here and you are an armed robber, a kidnapper, cultist, adulterer, among others and you don’t want to repent, please we urge you not to give offering, tithe or pledge because we are here to lead people to Christ and not money.
“The God who called us is always with us and we know that God will supply all our needs including money to finance the church. We urge you to repent from all evil and God will forgive you and give you good business that conforms with the word of God.
“We may not know you but God knows you and will judge you if you go against his will.”

Speaking on the topic, God has power to do all things, Muoka said the Church would not fail to fore-warn evildoers against giving ill-gotten wealth to God who is the owner of all things.

He noted that the crusade, which coincided with Easter celebration, was designed to produce a spiritual rebirth that would bring about restoration, salvation and Holy Ghost baptism.

He furthered that “there shall be a fulfilment of God’s good purposes in the life of participants through which they shall experience a total transformation as evident that God can do all things.”

The Imo state-born preacher stated that ”God inspired the crusade to draw our attention to the fact that our success does not lie on our ability but on what God can do, for God alone can do this or that vis-à-vis our supplications.”

He noted that human problems exist because “we do not recognize the fact that God has the ability to turn-around our situation no matter how bad it may seem to be. You limit God by seeking other means but that is lack of knowledge. The truth is that, God has the power to cause the barren to conceive, the lame to walk, the blind to see and the captives to be freed.

Eight Month Old Baby Remanded In Federal Prison For Crime Committed By Mother

The General Overseer of New Wine ministries, Nonnie Robertson, was at the Suleja prison over the weekend to celebrate her birthday and help people who committed petty crimes get bail.

During her visit, Robertson who is also the President of Nigerian Women in Clergy said she observed that children as young as 8 months old were seen incarcerated alongside their parents which she claimed isn’t right and should be looked into. See her quote below;
There is an eight-month-old baby in this
prison. I asked myself why? What was the
crime? The mother is incarcerated! And you
know what it means for a child to grow up
in prison environment where there is no
good food, no clothing, no baby food, and no
good medical care. Is a child who grows up
in that kind of environment not condemned
for life?
“I was really shocked when I saw the eight
month-old-baby. The woman lives on dry
food, that is, garri that outsiders provide for
them. They don’t give them food. They
depend on what people take to them. That is
what they share among them and they drink
garri even in the morning with little or no
sugar. You can just imagine! There are many
children living in this condition in Nigerian
prisons but people would not know. There
are issues. I weep for this country”.
" I always like to do things differently. I
heard about what I could describe as
‘forgotten’ victims in Nigerian prisons;
though I didn’t take it seriously because I
was not led by the spirit; I prayed over it
and few, days to my birthday, God asked me
to visit prisons. The first prison that came to
my mind was Kuje prison, because,
ignorantly, I thought that was the only
prison around. But we later went to Suleja
prison and we met inmates whose cases were
poverty-driven crimes. Some are there
serving jail terms with the options of N5, 000
to N15, 000 fines but they can’t afford it and
nobody to help. This is why I call them the
‘forgotten victims’.
“We have people that have looted billions of
naira in this country, yet they have their
freedom and sailing around the world. This
is sad”.

Lebanese Man Rapes, Impregnates 17-year-old Nigerian Housemaid In Lagos

A 17-year-old girl, Timothy Rhoda, who was reportedly raped and impregnated by a Lebanese whom she worked for in Lagos, has narrated her ordeal.

The Lebanese, identified as Ali Hussein, works as a professional chef in Lagos and resides on Allen Avenue, Ikeja area of the state.

Rhoda had reportedly left Plateau for the state in search of greener pastures when she met Hussein who promised to give her a job as a maid and had eventually agreed to pay her N10, 000 monthly.

However, two months into the job, she was impregnated by her boss who sacked her after he paid her a paltry sum of N19, 000 for the two months she worked for him.
Hussein subsequently kicked her out of his house when all his efforts to abort the pregnancy failed.

In a chat with Vanguard, Rhoda narrated her ordeal, saying, “I started working with the man as a maid immediately I came to Lagos. He agreed to pay me N10,000 monthly as my salary. When I packed into the house, my boss was not around but he came back two days later from his work place.

On how she was raped, Rhoda said, “On this particular day, my boss was about to leave the house when his brother asked me to go and meet him and collect some money to purchase food items for the house. I knocked on his door, he answered and asked me to come inside.

“When I entered, I told him that his brother asked me to collect money to purchase food items. He said okay and got up from where he was sitting.

“He pretended as if he wanted to get the money before he grabbed me forcefully. I struggled with him and was shouting but he overpowered me and raped me.

“The following month, I discovered that I had missed my monthly circle, so I informed him about it but instead of finding solution to it, he raped me a second time.

“I then kept disturbing him about the growing pregnancy. What he did was to send me to a nearby chemist with a prescription but the attendant refused to attend to me without his presence. He later went with me and bought some drugs which he asked me to take to abort the pregnancy. I took the drugs but nothing happened. After some days, he bought another set of drugs which I took, yet, nothing happened.

“I then became very worried and was disturbing him to find a solution to the problem he caused. That was when he started threatening me and later sacked me after paying me N19,000.

“I was so afraid that when I went back to my brother, Joshua, who brought me to Lagos, I didn’t tell him that I was pregnant for my boss. I was just praying that the pregnancy will just disappear but it did not. Unknown to my brother that I was pregnant, he got me another job where I worked for four months as a maid before my new employer discovered that I was pregnant and told my brother,” the embattled girl said.

On his account, Rhoda’s brother, Joshua also narrated his story.

According to him, “It was January this year that we discovered she was pregnant. Her stomach was still flat and we had to take her for scan. It was then she revealed that her former boss, Hussein, was responsible for her pregnancy.

“So, we went to Hussein’s house to confront him but he denied being responsible for the pregnancy. We therefore reported the case to the Immigration Department in Ikeja and on February 9, 2016, he was arrested but was later released.

“From immigration department, my sister was taken to the National Agency For The Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP.

“Initially, officials of NAPTIP said she would be with them until she delivers but last week, officials of the agency came and asked me to come and take my sister back as she will soon deliver.

“The pressure and threats from NAPTIP became too much to the extent that I don’t know whether they are protecting the interest of my sister who was abused by a foreigner or that of the foreigner.”

While bemoaning the atrocities perpetrated by some expatriates resident in Nigeria, Joshua said, “These atrocities continue unabated because the government and relevant authorities ignore the plight of helpless victims who are at their mercy.”

Meanwhile, an official of NAPTIP who simply identified herself as Mrs Agnes, said the case was still under investigations, however, Rhoda had been taken back to her former boss until she delivers.

One Mr Hassan who claimed to be Hussein’s nephew, intervened in the case, said, “Whatever happened between Hussein and Rhoda was a mistake and we are doing everything within to resolve the issue.
“We are doing everything to ensure she delivers safely.

“Hussein has agreed to take care of Rhoda until she gives birth,” Hassan added, stating that a DNA will be carried out to determine the paternity of the baby when she delivers but the family will not refuse to take responsibility.

"My Son Is An Armed Robber": Man Gets Son Arrested (Photo)

My son is an armed robber, man tells police

•Hands him over for investigation

IN a society where many parents cover the evil perpetrated by their children, one Mr Arogoy has handed over his son, David, who engaged in armed robbery, to the police at Ekpan Division in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Arogoy explained to the police that his son had returned home in agony at the wee hours of March 14 with bullet wounds and he had to report the case to the police for his own safety.

Mr Arogoy also informed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the division, Mr Chris Sorgbara, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), that his son had been in the armed robbery business for long and he did not want to be seen as aiding and abetting his chosen profession.

It was gathered that the suspect had confessed that he and his gang had gone on a robbery operation in Edo Guest House at Ekpan that fateful morning.

Crime Reports also gathered that on March 13, the 20-man gang had mounted a roadblock on the NPA expressway directly under the refinery fly-over where they had dispossessed unsuspecting road users of many valuables.

Members of the gang were said to have been terrorising the area, particularly Edo Guest House, for over a month and their latest operation was said to be their third in a row.

Confirming the incident, CSP Sorgbara disclosed that he had received a distress call between 5:00 a.m and 5:30 a.m of March 14 that there was a robbery operation going on in Edo Guest House at Refinery road.

He said he was also informed that the robbers were armed with machetes, broken bottles, and knives, among other weapons.

Sorgbara said he had to swiftly dispatch the anti-robbery patrol team under him to intercept and dislodge the criminals.

According to him, the robbers, on seeing the police team, opened fire and the police responded and a gun duel ensued. During the gun duel, he said the leader of the gang, simply identified as Oga Kenneth, was gunned down on the spot while other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.

Oga Kenneth was described by the police DPO as a notorious robber who was responsible for various armed robbery operations in the area.

However, Crime Reports gathered that on March 11, one Ajukwu Chubuike, Odivwri Kobiro and Prince Edafe, were arrested at the same Edo Guest House while dispossessing guests of their belongings.

Victims of the March 14 armed robbery operation related their ordeals to Crime Reports.

One of them, Ebi Moses, who is still nursing the machete cut injuries from the robbers, told reporters that he lost N47, 000 and two android phones to the robbers.

The Director of Edo Guest House, Mr Anthony Ukwade described the robbers’ invasion as hellish, saying that they banged the doors of the hotel rooms and dealt badly with his guests.

Mr Ukwade thanked the good Nigerian who placed the distress call to the Ekpan police station, which eventually came to their rescue.
